General Information

Q:

What is a homeschool co-op?

A:

A homeschool co-op is a group of homeschooling families who come together to share educational opportunities, build friendships, and support one another throughout their homeschool journey.

Unlike a traditional school, homeschool co-ops are parent-led communities where families work together to create enriching experiences for their children. Students have opportunities to learn alongside peers, participate in hands-on projects, explore new interests, and develop lasting friendships in a supportive environment.

At Emerald Coast Co-op our focus extends beyond academics because we believe that Homeschooling is better together. We are a Christian homeschool community serving families throughout Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Navarre, Crestview, Santa Rosa Beach, Miramar Beach, and the surrounding Emerald Coast.

Families at ECC enjoy:

• Weekly enrichment classes
• Field trips and educational experiences
• Park days and family gatherings
• Holiday parties and special events
• Prom and graduation celebrations
• Mom's Nights for support and community
• Fellowship and encouragement from experienced homeschool families

Our goal is to create a welcoming community where children and parents can learn, grow, connect, and thrive together.

Q:

How often does ECC meet?

A:

We meet weekly on Friday mornings throughout the school year. Our co-op year typically consists of approximately 30 weeks of classes and activities. Occasionally, a scheduled co-op day may be replaced with a field trip or special event, allowing students to experience hands-on learning beyond the classroom.

In addition to our weekly meetings, we host a variety of community building events like:

• Educational field trips
• Park days
• Lunch outings after co-op
• Holiday parties
• Young Entreprenour's Market Day
• Teen events
• Prom and graduation celebrations
• Mom's Nights

Q:

How much do you charge for membership?

A:

We try very hard to keep our dues very low. Please note: fees are non-refundable.

Our fee structure is as follows:

  • $20.00 yearly registration fee
  • $20.00 church love offering per family, per semester
  • $20.00 tuition per student, per semester.

Q:

How long are ECC meetings?

A:

Our weekly co-op meets from 9:45 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday mornings.

During that time, students participate in two one-hour enrichment classes, enjoy social time with friends, snack time, and gather for opening and closing assemblies.

Q:

What does our typical day look like?

A:

While schedules may vary slightly throughout the year for special events, a typical Friday morning looks like this:

9:00 AM – Doors Open for Fellowship Time

9:45 AM – Opening Assembly

10:00 AM – First Hour Class

11:00 AM – Break Time

11:15 AM – Second Hour Class

12:15 PM – Closing Assembly

12:30 PM – Dismissal & Clean Up Time

After co-op, many families continue building community through park days and lunch outings.

Q:

Who Teaches the Classes?

A:

ECC is a parent-led homeschool co-op. All classes are taught by parents and caregivers within our community.

We are not a drop-off program, and parents are required to remain on campus during co-op hours and participate in the life of the co-op.

During co-op days each parent will have a non-teaching hour allowing time to connect with other homeschool parents, build friendships, and enjoy community.

Q:

What Types of Classes Are Offered?

A:

Class offerings vary from year to year based on the interests and talents of our families.

Some of our current offerings include:

• ABCs & 123s Nursery
• Storybook STEM
• LEGO STEM
• Nature Study
• Cooking Around the World
• Zoology
• Indoor & Outdoor Games

We strive to offer a variety of educational, creative, hands-on, and enrichment-based classes for students of all ages.

About Us

Q:

Who Is Emerald Coast Co-op?

A:

The Emerald Coast Co-op was started in 2012 by a small group of moms.  These moms had a vision to provide a place where homeschool families could join together weekly to learn and grow.  Their Christian foundation was at the root of their vision from the start.

Through the years, many moms have worked as board members to help ECC become the amazing organization it currently is.  Always maintaining the goal of building a strong faith-based learning community for our local homeschool families.

Q:

Do you offer extra events?

A:

Yes! Community is a big part of who we are!

Throughout the year, ECC families enjoy field trips, park days, mom's nights out, family events, and parent date nights. We also host holiday parties, service projects, and other special activities.

Our teen group, Forged, provides opportunities for middle and high school students to connect through game nights, lunches, outings, and special events. We also host an annual prom and graduation ceremony for our seniors.

Q:

What Ages Does ECC Serve?

A:

We offer classes and activities for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

We also have a pre-k & nursery class for younger siblings so  that moms can actively participate in our co-op community. While we do not currently accept nursery or preschool families as standalone members, we would be happy to connect with you and add your family to our waitlist until your oldest child reaches kindergarten and you officially begin homeschooling.
